Herman sheds light on more potentially costly injuries

Two injuries that apparently came about for the Horns in the second half were to two players that this team can ill-afford to lose. It doesn’t seem like these two injuries will be anything serious for the Horns, but it’s still worth paying attention to. Injuries hampered Texas in a big way last season and this coaching staff has to be hoping for better luck this fall.

True freshman running back Keaontay Ingram apparently suffered a knee injury in the second half and senior linebacker Anthony Wheeler suffered a knee injury. By all indications, the Horns will have Wheeler and Ingram back for the Trojans next week. Texas will need those players to make an impact for each side of the ball in Week 3.

Texas does have a laundry list of players listed as “questionable” on initial injury reports for the Week 3 showdown with USC. Ingram and Wheeler haven’t been listed as out for the upcoming week by any major sources at this point, or even questionable for that matter. Texas should ultimately see a few players that missed action in Week 2 back next week.

Those were the only two injuries that Herman mentioned that fans didn’t already know about. Junior safety Brandon Jones, junior center Zach Shackelford, and senior cornerback Davante Davis we’ll hope to see back in action in Week 3. Texas could use the added depth given what we saw from sophomore safety Josh Thompson and redshirt freshman cornerback Kobe Boyce in getting beat over the top twice.
