A commonly known target for the 2020 Texas football recruiting class, four-star in-state cornerback Ryan Watts, seems to be getting much closer to his commitment decision. Rated as a top 30 corner in the nation among the 2020 high school prospects, Watts is a big-time talent that has a high-ceiling at the collegiate level.

This battle to land Watts seems to be boiling down to some usual suspects in this region of the country. Competitors like the Sooners and Aggies were present in the top 10 for Watts and could play a big role in his final pledge decision. There were also some other regional program competitors like the Baylor Bears, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Oklahoma State Cowboys present among his finalists.

Another factor that makes Watts so appealing is the length and raw measurables that he brings. He stands at nearly 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds. He does have to put on some weight, but he’s only going into his senior campaign at Little Elm High School. Watts still has a good amount of time to touch up on areas like that.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions favor Watts to land with the Texas football program above head coach Lincoln Riley and Oklahoma when it’s all said and done. But, we’ll have to monitor his recruitment moving forward since the Horns could definitely use some added depth at corner in this recruiting class, and Oklahoma is firmly in the running to land him.
