Texas basketball could make a name for itself in the transfer portal this summer by landing a former Big 12 foe that had success against this team in the past. TCU Horned Frogs rising senior point guard Jaylen Fisher was one of the more surprising names to hit the transfer thus far in the off-season.

However, the Longhorns should jump very quickly on the opportunity that comes with Fisher putting his name in the transfer portal. He would be a more than capable transfer replacement for Smart and the Longhorns to land instead of Mitrou-Long in the backcourt rotation.

Due to a lingering injury issue, Fisher only played in nine game with the Horned Frogs last season. It was also his last under former TCU head coach Jamie Dixon before he bolted Fort Worth to join the UCLA Bruins after Steve Alford was fired in Pasadena. The departure of Dixon was more than likely the reason why Fisher left Fort Worth this off-season.

When Fisher did play for TCU last season, he was more than impressive. He averaged 12.1 points per game, 2.7 assists, 2.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals in the nine games he did play in. Those numbers were good enough for him to register a sparkling 22.1 player efficiency rating. He is a perfect candidate to bolster the Texas backcourt for one year.
