4. How Sam Ehlinger impacts recruiting

At the Elite 11 Finals, rising junior Texas football quarterback Sam Ehlinger made an appearance as one of the four college counselors. It was interesting having both Ehlinger and Oklahoma Sooners projected starting quarterback Jalen Hurts present as college counselors at the Elite 11.

With Ehlinger becoming so present in the national media and in the world of college football recruiting, his impact will be felt all over the place for this program. If he shows out this fall, then his presence will be felt for the 2020 and 2021 Texas football recruiting classes.

Moreover, Texas is battling for quarterbacks in future recruiting cycles like five-star Preston Stone and Jake Garcia. Stone looks especially interested in the Longhorns, even with the offers from 46 schools that he holds already. The Dallas native is surely going to have a lot of hype heading into his junior season at Parish Episcopal.

As a projected Heisman contender this year, Ehlinger has a lot of pressure on his shoulders for his junior campaign. It feels like Ehlinger is the type of fiery personality that can handle all this pressure and criticism. The shots from Terry Bradshaw and Baker Mayfield ahead of the 2019 season don’t matter a bit when it comes to Texas football succeeding.
