10. Progression of the quarterbacks under Tom Herman and Tim Beck

The quarterback position took center stage for the 2020 and 2021 Texas football recruiting classes. Head Texas football coach Tom Herman and offensive coordinator Tim Beck added a big name to the 2021 recruiting class in July, with four-star Tompkins dual-threat Jalen Milroe.

Texas nabbed the commitment of Milroe over competition like the Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas A&M Aggies. Milroe’s addition to the 2021 recruiting class will continue this insane pipeline of talent that the Longhorns have at the quarterback position for the next three years.

Once the time runs out for Sam Ehlinger as the Texas starting quarterback, it could be up in the air as to who the next long-term solution is. If Ehlinger rides out his eligibility on the Forty Acres, it could be between four-star 2020 dual-threat quarterback commit Hudson Card and Milroe for who the next starter in line is.

Card and Milroe both fit well with what Herman looks for out of his quarterback and passing game. Both have the ability to make throws on the run, scramble and make defenders miss in the open field, and make reads while sitting in the pocket with a solid supporting cast.

I won’t forget about the former four-star dual-threat quarterback 2019 signee Roschon Johnson in the race to be the next Texas starter.
