3. Gary Johnson, Linebacker

The 2019 NFL Draft class coming out of the Texas football program included a pretty significant number of players that could’ve been selected during the seven rounds. Instead, the Longhorns saw a number of players go undrafted, including former linebacker and JUCO transfer Gary Johnson.

There wasn’t much better performances from any linebacker at the 2019 NFL Combine in terms of speed and agility than Johnson. For a 6-foot and 225 pound linebacker (his NFL Combine measurements), Johnson ran an electric 40-yard dash time at 4.43 seconds. He also ran a good time in the shuttle drill at 4.57 seconds.

The three-cone drill time that Johnson posted was pretty good, but nothing overwhelming (7.15 seconds). His broad jump and vertical leap were also good but not great (121 inches, and 33.5 inches). Put together all these drills for Johnson and you get one of the more well-rounded of any linebacker in this draft class.

The Kansas City Chiefs would wind up getting Johnson as an undrafted free agent signing following the 2019 NFL Draft. But he has yet to play in a single NFL game since the Chiefs picked up him as a UDFA.

Nonetheless, Johnson put together one of the more memorable NFL Combine performances of any former Longhorn over the course of the past decade and that deserves a lot of credit.
