The bevy of blue chip prospects that play in the trenches that Texas already missed out on tends to get the four-star towering 6-foot-8 and 305 pound Foster offensive tackle Reuben Fatheree lost in the mix. Fatheree was a big recruiting miss at the time for the Longhorns. He wound up choosing the Texas A&M Aggies over the Longhorns and other competing schools back on June 1, 2020.

This Richmond, TX, native held offers from more than 25 schools. The highlighting schools on his offer sheet included Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, the Auburn Tigers, Baylor Bears, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, and USC Trojans.

Former Oklahoma State Cowboys and Mizzou Tigers offensive line coach Josh Henson was the one that drew Fatheree to commit to playing his college career in College Station. But this was one that the Longhorns missed that was right in their own backyard. It really had to sting for the likes of Herman and Hand.

Fatheree ranks as the nation’s No. 136 2021 high school prospect, No. 18 offensive tackle, and No. 21 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). At the time when Fatheree started to lean toward Texas A&M over the rest of the field, it didn’t seem like a huge deal because the Longhorns were still the front runner for the likes of the Brockermeyers and four-star Duncanville product Savion Byrd. That view might be different for the Texas coaching staff now.
