The first currently uncommitted high school prospect on this list that the Longhorns could turn to, that is also a dual-threat quarterback that could take Milroe’s place in the 2021 class, is the three-star Independence product Braylon Braxton. Although his ceiling isn’t near as high, and his arm talent down the field isn’t quite up to par, Braxton does bring a similar base skill set to the table as Milroe.

It does seem like Braxton would be a very safe option for Herman and his coaching staff to pursue by now to replace Milroe in the 2021 class. Braxton also has a similar stature to Milroe, at 6-foot-2 and 200 pound and with a good amount of elusiveness to evade the pocket.

Braxton does hold 15 schools on his growing offer sheet, as of the afternoon of Aug. 18. The highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, Memphis Tigers, New Mexico Lobos, Tulsa Golden Hurricane, Army Black Knights, and the Air Force Falcons. He also has a reported scout look from the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Texas would do well to get in on the recruitment of Braxton now. He ranks as the nation’s No. 638 2021 high school prospect, No. 19 dual-threat quarterback, and No. 89 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 16 dual-threat quarterback and No. 68 prospect out of Texas.

Braxton did have a very efficient junior season at Independence High School. He amassed more than 4,100 total yards, 56 total touchdowns, and just six interceptions.
