2) Must gets for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class: Terrence Cooks

Where the Longhorns go from here on the defensive side of the ball on the recruiting trail has no easy answers. Just bringing in blue chip level talent over and over again hasn’t worked in terms of the success on that side of the ball for Texas under either former defensive coordinator Todd Orlando or newly hired DC Chris Ash.

But one target that they really need to land in their 2021 recruiting class to fill a growing position of need is the versatile 6-foot-2 and 210 pound Shadow Creek outside linebacker Terrence Cooks. This four-star linebacker product hailing out of Pearland, TX, is one of the few blue chip prospects on this side of the ball trending to land with Texas at the moment.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions actually does have a unanimous selection going for Texas right now to land the commitment of Cooks. If he committed to Texas, he would be the second four-star linebacker present in the 2021 class.

And he ranks as the nation’s No. 301 2021 high school prospect, No. 20 outside linebacker, and No. 46 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 28 outside linebacker and No. 52 prospect out of Texas.

Cooks holds three dozen schools on his lengthy offer sheet. The highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Baylor, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss Rebels, SMU Mustangs, Stanford, Tennessee Volunteers, USC Trojans, and Washington Huskies.
