3) 2021 prospects for Texas football to try and flip: Raesjon Davis

The boldest route that the Longhorns could go to try and flip a 2021 prospect that they’ve already sent a scholarship out to on this list could be the talented 6-foot-1 and 215 pound Mater Dei outside linebacker Raesjon Davis. Back on New Year’s Day 2020, Davis gave his commitment to play for head coach Ed Orgeron and the defending National Champion LSU Tigers.

Since Davis announced his commitment to LSU, he only have two more scholarship offers come his way. The most notable one came from the former LSU defensive coordinator and first-year head coach Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears. Aranda was one of the main LSU assistants going after Davis prior to his commitment to LSU.

Maybe getting his attention over to the Big 12 could work in the Longhorns favor here.

Head coach Clay Helton and the USC Trojans have also made a significant push to try and flip Davis since he first committed to LSU more than 10 months ago. Davis holds just shy of two dozen schools on his offer sheet. The highlighting schools (outside of those already mentioned) that offered Davis includes the Auburn Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Michigan Wolverines, Oklahoma Sooners, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Davis ranks as the nation’s No. 38 2021 high school prospect, No. 3 outside linebacker, and No. 3 prospect out of California (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 60 high school prospect, No. 5 outside linebacker, and No. 4 prospect out of California.

If the Longhorns want another try at flipping a Mater Dei High School product, then they might be able to find some traction with Davis if there’s a shaky commitment to LSU brewing.
