Texas Football: 3 best transfer landing spots for DE Marqez Bimage
2) Landing spots for former Texas football DL Marqez Bimage
New Mexico
Yet another school that was in on the recruitment of Bimage coming out of high school back during the 2017 recruiting cycle was the New Mexico Lobos out of the Mountain West Conference. New Mexico was the lone Mountain West school to send Bimage a scholarship offer coming out of high school too.
Just like it could for a team like the Golden Bears, the Lobos could have a leg up on the competition since they were able to offer Bimage a good while back.
New Mexico had a lot of movement in the transfer portal already this offseason. They lost one defensive lineman to the portal this offseason, in senior nose tackle and former unrated recruit Elmer Pauni. New Mexico has also landed a former Longhorns transfer in recent years, with defensive back Eric Cuffee. Ironically, Cuffee is in the portal once again this offseason, departing the New Mexico program this time.
And just like there is for the Golden Bears, the Lobos have a depth need to fill along the defensive line. Averaging roughly seven yards per play last season, along with north of 450 total yards allowed per game, and five yards per rush, there is certainly help that New Mexico could use on the defensive side of the ball. This seems like a good landing spot for Bimage if he wants a Group of Five program where he could really make an impact right away.
