The receiving corps is definitely a point of emphasis in the Longhorns 2022 class. They’ve had a lot of volatility at the wide receiver position in the 2022 class after not really doing well with this group in the previous recruiting cycle. Texas did sign one blue chip commit in the receiving corps in the 2021 class, with four-star Monarch product Jaden Alexis.

But most of the other pieces in the Longhorns 2021 signing class at the wide receiver position are more just projects that Sark has to hope turn out well (i.e. three-star Warren Easton product Casey Cain).

The tight end position also wasn’t particularly strong in terms of recruiting rankings in the 2021 class, but it sounds like Gunnar Helm and Juan Davis are doing well in spring ball thus far.

One potential way to add depth at this position group from the ground up is by getting a retroactive addition to the 2021 class. Texas could look into a one-time Kentucky Wildcats commit and three-star Euclid wide receiver Armond Scott potentially for help with this position group.

It was roughly six months ago that Scott re-opened his recruitment, just ahead of the Early Signing Period. There are currently 10 schools on Scott’s offer sheet including the Iowa State Cyclones, Boston College Eagles, Cincinnati Bearcats, Michigan State Spartans, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Moreover, the 6-foot-3 and 200 pound Scott ranks as the nation’s No. 617 2021 high school prospect, No. 97 wide receiver, and No. 22 prospect out of Ohio (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 119 wide receiver and No. 26 prospect out of Ohio.
