It’s hard to understate how big of a loss it is for the Kansas Jayhawks to see their reigning Freshman All-American cornerback and former underrated three-star recruit Karon Prunty enter the transfer portal. And for this news to come so late in the offseason for the Jayhawks hurts even more for this coaching staff in the post-Les Miles era.

I personally would be a massive fan of the Longhorns pursuing the ultra-potent and proven Prunty in the transfer portal in the wake of missing out on Evans in the midst of the summer months. Prunty might be the best cornerback available in the transfer portal at this point of the offseason, and he would bring a lot of longevity to the table for new defensive backs coach Terry Joseph.

Texas is not too familiar with Prunty former head coach Tom Herman didn’t get to face the Jayhawks last fall. The regular season meeting between Texas and Kansas never occurred due to COVID-19-related issues.

Yet, it doesn’t take a wizard to know how good Prunty is by just looking at his stat sheet and film from his true freshman campaign. In his one year playing in Lawrence, Prunty registered 26 combined tackles, one tackle for loss, no sacks, one interception, a whopping nine pass breakups (good for top three in the Big 12 last season), and one forced fumble.

Prunty would be a great target for the Longhorns that could be a nice long-term fit with the program. This is a hard potential transfer portal target to ignore for Sark and the Longhorns after missing out on Evans.
