Getting the offensive line off and running in the Longhorns 2022 class is a responsibility that bears a heavy burden on one particular member of Sark’s coaching staff. New offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood was a brilliant recruiter during his time on staff at Alabama, but Texas will bring new hurdles for him to overcome.

Texas has yet to get their first commit along the offensive line in the 2022 class. And that comes on the heels of a host of disappointing results in the trenches for the Longhorns 2021 class, then under the direction of head coach Tom Herman and offensive line coach Herb Hand.

One of the Longhorns’ most important and potent targets in the trenches for their 2022 class will be one of the highlighting official visitors on campus this weekend. The former Oklahoma State Cowboys commit and five-star Summer Creek (TX) 6-foot-5 and 300-pound offensive tackle Kelvin Banks.

Texas is one of potentially more than five schools that Banks will be visiting this month. It will be a combination of official and unofficial visits for one of the most high-profile offensive line prospects of the 2022 recruiting cycle.

Flood and the Longhorns will specifically get the official visit with Banks on June 18, the same day as Stewart. He’s already taken official visits this month with programs like LSU and the Oregon Ducks. And in the middle of this week ahead of his visit with Texas, Banks had an official visit with Oklahoma State.

That really leaves the two major recruiting powers in the state of Texas that will host Banks. Texas gets him this weekend, and then the rival Aggies will host him for a late official visit in June coming next week.
