Harold Perkins, LB

It might be a long time before we figure out what the decision will be for the five-star Cy Park (TX) linebacker Harold Perkins when it’s all said and done. Perkins looks like he could be one of the more high-profile high school prospects during this recruiting cycle to make his commitment known in the public eye.

And there’s not a whole lot of clarity as to what his top school overall is at this point in time. His decision could very well include three or four top schools through the start of the 2021 regular season.

Some of the visits that Perkins took so far this month came with the Texas A&M Aggies, LSU Tigers, and Texas. But he already has visits on the books for the fall with the Florida Gators (Sep. 17) and Oregon Ducks (Nov. 26). Those are some pretty clear indicators that Perkins is looking to keep his recruitment pretty open until the fall.

It will be key for Texas to continue building this connection with Perkins heading into the fall. The June 11 official visit with Texas was a nice small win for Sark and this coaching staff in pursuit of Perkins. But that won’t be nearly enough to keep his interests with Texas above the rest.

Texas and Texas A&M are two of the more than 30 schools on Perkins’ offer sheet. Some of the other schools of note on his offer sheet are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oklahoma Sooners, Penn State Nittany Lions, Tennessee Volunteers, and USC Trojans.
