The opportunity for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class to make up for missing out on the commitment of the towering 6-foot-5 and 360-pound Duncanville three-star offensive tackle Cameron Williams could be just around the corner this week. Texas and new head coach Steve Sarkisian look like they could soon get their first commit along the offensive line in the 2022 class.

Missing out on Williams was surely pretty surprising for the Longhorns 2022 class. He announced his commitment to join head coach Mario Cristobal and the Oregon Ducks in the PAC-12 North on the evening of July 1. But the next chance for the Longhorns 2022 class to get the first offensive line commit is looming on July 2.

The three-star hometown product and Westlake 6-foot-5 and 295-pound offensive tackle/interior offensive lineman Connor Robertson is set to announce his decision on July 2. And Texas is squarely in the thick of his finalist schools for his July 2 decision.

In fact, the latest official visit that Robertson took last month came with Texas. The visit to the Forty Acres, which is a short trip for Robertson, came back on June 18. The other school that looks to be competing for the commitment of Robertson on July 2 is the Stanford Cardinal.

Texas also has new offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and quarterbacks coach A.J. Milwee as the top recruiters after Robertson.

Indicators favoring Texas football to land 3-Star IOL Connor Robertson

The Rivals FutureCast has 75 percent of their analysts and publishers picking the commitment of Robertson to land with Texas over Stanford and the rest of the field.

And all four of the recent expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions in for Robertson have his commitment landing with Texas. That is good news, but not a sure thing for the Longhorns considering the way Williams’ decision went.

Texas and Stanford are two of the more than 30 schools on his offer sheet. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet are the BYU Cougars, Duke Blue Devils, Miami Hurricanes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Penn State Nittany Lions, TCU Horned Frogs, Tennessee Volunteers, and USC Trojans.

And Robertson ranks as the nation’s No. 545 2022 high school prospect, No. 20 interior offensive lineman, and No. 77 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 21 interior offensive lineman and No. 71 prospect out of Texas.
