One of the bigger days on the trail arrived for new head coach Steve Sarkisian, offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the 2022 Texas football recruiting class arrived on July 2. Texas had a plethora of big-time targets announcing their decisions this week, specifically ahead of the holiday weekend, that could give a nice boost to the 2022 class.

With the resumption of the dead period kicking in this month, Sark and the Longhorns just have to sit and wait to see what the fruits of their labor will be on the recruiting trail for the 2022 and 2023 classes.

Texas surely got off to a good start for the first week of the resumption of the dead period. On June 28, Texas landed a commitment from four-star Tyler Legacy (TX) running back Jamarion Miller to get this week off on the right foot.

But the real day full of action for the Longhorns 2022 class arrived on July 2. Texas landed commitments from four-star Frisco interior offensive lineman Cole Hutson and three-star Westlake interior offensive lineman Connor Robertson, both on the night of July 2. That really got the offensive line off and running in the 2022 class.

Following this trio of commitments for the Longhorns 2022 class this week, there are now 14 total prospects in the mix as of the late afternoon of July 3. But more could be on the way soon.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 6 in the nation and in the top spot in the Big 12 ahead of the Baylor Bears and the Oklahoma schools.

Who’s up next for the Longhorns 2022 class following the commitments of Robertson and Hutson heading into the weekend? Here’s a look into some names to watch as to who the next commit could be in the Longhorns 2022 class.
