Some of the most hotly contested names on the trail for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class already announced their decisions early this month. In the first week of the resumption of the dead period in July, Texas saw a host of key targets of their 2022 class announce their decisions.

Some fell in favor of new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns, and some shocked those on the Forty Acres. Texas did get key commitments last week from the likes of three key prospects. The first came in the form of the four-star Tyler Legacy (TX) running back Jamarion Miller.

And then the Longhorns landed commitments subsequently on the night of July 2 from two interior offensive linemen. Texas got commitments heading into last weekend from three-star Westlake product Connor Robertson and four-star Frisco product Cole Hutson.

July slowing down now for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class?

But there were also key misses that Sark and his coaching staff will have to make up for in the 2022 class in the coming weeks and months. The most notable of those that Texas missed last week was the elite five-star Summer Creek offensive tackle, Kelvin Banks. Texas also missed on three-star Duncanville offensive tackle Cameron Williams.

Both Banks and Williams landed with head coach Mario Cristobal and the Oregon Ducks in a frustrating week for the Longhorns in terms of recruiting those two.

Texas still has a solid 2022 class in the works, as long as the month of July ends on the right foot. Which are the most prioritized targets for the Longhorns 2022 class, and who could still have decisions on the way in favor of this program this month?
