Johntay Cook, WR

The first name up on this list is one of the focal points early on for the Longhorns 2023 class. The highly touted four-star DeSoto wide receiver Johntay Cook II is one of the key prospects that could form a nice foundation for the Longhorns 2023 class. Sark and second-year wide receivers coach Andre Coleman have put in a lot of work with him already on the recruiting trail.

This was not the first time that Cook was impressed by the Longhorns in a key win at home through four games this season. Cook looked like he took some positive impressions away from the win for Sark and the Longhorns over the No. 23 ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and head coach Billy Napier back in Week 1.

What matters even more about the positive reaction from Cook following the Longhorns’ big win in the Big 12 opener over the Red Raiders was the fact that he had his attention on another key Power Five game he was in attendance for this weekend. Cook was actually in attendance in the DFW-Metroplex for the rivalry game between the Texas A&M Aggies and Arkansas Razorbacks this weekend.

It looks like Cook was not only impressed by what Texas did against Texas Tech this weekend, but also what the Oklahoma Sooners looked like in a near-upset loss against the West Virginia Mountaineers at home. He looks to have found the Sooners faithful rooting for Caleb Williams to get put in the game in place of Spencer Rattler pretty amusing.

That has to be something that helps Texas if the Sooners continue to struggle on offense this fall.

Per 247Sports, Cook said that “I love the offense” and that he was impressed by how easy it was for this offense to score and how quickly it happened.
