Although Texas doesn’t have the clear cut lead with the elite five-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver and former commit Evan Stewart anymore, it might not take long to get the momentum back in their side this fall. Texas needs to start by having a successful visit during the game weekend on Oct. 16, when Stewart is expected to be on campus.

The atmosphere at DKR should be lit for the weekend of Oct. 16, when Texas is set to take on head coach Mike Gundy and the No. 19 Oklahoma State Cowboys at home. That should be the weekend that Texas expects Stewart.

The 6-foot and 175-pound Stewart was committed to the Longhorns for around one month back in part of February and March. But Sark and the Longhorns weren’t able to hang onto the commitment of Stewart for all that long.

And now, the Longhorns will still have to fight to get Stewart back in the 2022 class when it’s all said and done. Texas is going to have to fight off the likes of the Florida Gators, Alabama, and LSU, to eventually land Stewart if he is to take his talents to the Forty Acres.

Every indication would point to Texas remaining as one of likely the top two schools in the race to land a commitment from Stewart. Florida had the momentum for a good while, but that lead looks to have flattened out early this fall.

If Texas can make the right impression with Stewart if he’s able to make the visit for the Oklahoma State game weekend next month, it could lead to more traction to potentially land his commitment in the weeks following.
