Rueben Owens, RB

A common prospect that makes these lists that is often impressed by recent wins for Sark and the Longhorns this fall is the elite five-star El Campo running back Rueben Owens. The priority with the top-tier in-state prospect is clear for the Longhorns; continue to keep his attention on the Forty Acres and away from top competing programs this fall.

As the lone commit at any point in the Longhorns 2023 class, Owens is an important prospect that remains on the radar for this staff. Texas seems to keep going all out this fall to keep Owens as a top priority of the 2023 class, and rightly so.

Owens has done nothing but impress with his own film for El Campo High School at the outset of the 2021 season. He’s only continued to prove that he could be one of the most talented running backs in college just a few years down the road.

One of the best pitches that Texas can continue to give Owens this fall is the play of star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson. As a top Heisman contender among running backs this year, Bijan seems to be someone really capturing the attention of Owens.

Following this win over TCU, Owens stated that Bijan is his “early Heisman candidate”. That is high praise from someone who is also a five-star running back recruit with a truly elite ceiling.
