Texas really can’t afford to lose its top running back commit in the 2022 class, which is the highly touted four-star Tyler Legacy product Jamarion Miller. Yet, that could be what’s in the making in the coming weeks and months with the in-state product Miller as he took an interesting official visit that didn’t look like it was expected over the weekend.

It looks like Miller took an impromptu official visit last weekend with head coach Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. The fact that this was an official visit that seemingly caught the coaching staff and Texas media by surprise goes to show what type of ramifications this could have on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns.

Granted, this is not something worth overreacting to yet. But the fact that someone like Miller takes an OV with Alabama is definitely noteworthy.

When Alabama tosses its hat into the ring on the recruiting trail like this, it usually isn’t something insignificant.

And considering that the top competitors on the recruiting trail with the Longhorns to land the commitment of Miller were the Oklahoma Sooners, Texas A&M Aggies, and Florida Gators, among a couple of other schools, this is a surprising development. Alabama is getting in on this one pretty late.

Alabama did offer Miller back on March 6. But that offer came at least six months after most of the ones he received from his other top schools.

It will be interesting to follow this storyline to see if there are any other developments in Miller’s recruitment this fall. For the time being, it looks like Miller’s commitment to Texas is still solid. But we’ll continue to monitor this to see if anything emerges that is more concrete proof of the connection between Miller and the Crimson Tide.
