It’s weird how this thing can come around for the Longhorns 2023 class.

Getting the commitment of Owens back in the 2023 class was always within reach for the likes of Sark, running backs coach Stan Drayton, and the Longhorns since the summer months. Despite losing the commitment of Owens back in June, Texas has remained in a strong position among his top schools.

At this point of his recruitment, the foundation that the likes of Drayton and recruiting director Brandon Harris holds with Owens appears to be favorable heading into next offseason. Owens looks to have a stronger relationship with these two than most any other recruiter going after him at this point of the 2023 cycle.

It’s hard to ignore the fact that Owens is the top target among running backs on the board for the 2023 class. Getting a commitment back from him has to be the top priority in the 2023 class. Texas has a strong group of running backs in the 2022 class between four-stars Jamarion Miller and Jaydon Blue.

Getting the 2023 class off and running with Owens is a way for the Longhorns to keep the insane pipeline of talent with this position group rolling for yet another cycle.

Some other top schools to watch in pursuit of the commitment of Owens are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Oklahoma Sooners, Texas A&M Aggies, and USC Trojans.

Texas still had a couple of key visits with Texas since his summer de-commitment. Keeping this strong relationship developing in a positive sense in the near future will be the key if Texas wants to get his pledge back in the not-too-distant future.
