Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian did something this weekend that former head coach Tom Herman was not able to during his time on the Forty Acres; move the needle for the program by landing the former five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers. Now, Sark took to a different route to try and get Ewers to the Forty Acres than Herman had to. Nonetheless, Sark was still able to get the mission accomplished by getting Ewers to come to Austin to play for Texas.

On the night of Dec. 12, Sark and the Longhorns got a commitment out of the transfer portal from the former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman quarterback and Southlake Carroll High School product Ewers. After putting his name in the transfer portal back on Dec. 3, the Longhorns looked like an immediate top contender to get a commitment from Ewers after leaving Ohio State.

Which Texas football players could benefit most from the addition of QB Quinn Ewers?

It took a little more than one week for Ewers to go through three visits and make his final decision. Ewers visited the likes of the Longhorns, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and TCU Horned Frogs. Texas Tech did look like a real threat to land Ewers over Texas in the last six or seven days. He visited Lubbock last weekend, and there was plenty of hype coming from the Texas Tech side.

Yet, Sark and the Longhorns were able to get the final word with Ewers and secure his commitment to round out this massive weekend for the football program.

This commitment definitely moves the needle for the Longhorns just a couple of weeks after the end of a really disappointing inaugural season for Sark as the Texas head coach.

What Longhorns players are going to benefit most from the addition of Ewers right away? Here’s a look into three names to watch in terms of those that will get the biggest boost from Texas adding Ewers out of the transfer portal.
