With the offseason finally here around the college football landscape, there is sure to be a new wave of entrants to the NCAA Transfer Portal that is worth watching for the Texas football program. Head coach Steve Sarkisian already landed two additions to his team early this offseason out of the transfer portal.

The first came to Sark and the Longhorns out of the transfer portal in the form of the former elite five-star recruit and Ohio State Buckeyes freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers. It’s hard to imagine the Longhorns getting much better this offseason than landing a commitment out of the transfer portal from their own former pledge in the 2022 recruiting class in the Southlake, TX, native Ewers.

Yet, Texas did manage to add another key piece on the other side of the ball out of the transfer portal early this offseason in the form of a former Ohio State teammate of Ewers’. Former Buckeyes redshirt freshman cornerback and Texas native Ryan Watts was the other transfer portal addition for the Longhorns that came last month.

Which former Alabama transfers could Texas football land this offseason?

One recent wave of transfer portal entrants that are worth watching at this point of the offseason for the Longhorns came thanks to the Alabama Crimson Tide. There was a wave of quite a few Crimson Tide players in the transfer portal following their loss in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game to the Georgia Bulldogs on the night of Jan. 10.

Here’s a look into three former Crimson Tide players in the transfer portal that Texas could go after in January 2022.
