Ashton Porter, DE/EDGE

Earlier today, I did a piece on how the talented four-star Cy Ranch (TX) 6-foot-3 and 240-pound defensive end/edge rusher Ashton Porter was starting to trend in the Longhorns direction. Porter got an expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction this week going in favor of Texas and all of the analysts and publishers in the Rivals FutureCast picking for him have him going to Texas.

There is a lot of momentum right now between the Longhorns and Porter. You would be foolish not to see the writing on the wall that Texas is at least moving in the right direction with this blue-chip player that can make a difference along the defensive front.

It still looks like competing schools on the recruiting trail like the Arkansas Razorbacks, Baylor Bears, Arizona State Sun Devils, etc., are in the running for Porter. But if there were to be a frontrunner to be named right now for Porter, it likely would be considered Texas from an outside view.

Defensive line coach Bo Davis seems to have a lot of traction with Porter. And Davis surely hit with the Longhorns 2022 class along the defensive front. Porter would be a really nice foundational piece to the 2023 class at this point.
