3 key 2023 Texas recruits that were impressed by Junior Day
Javien Toviano, CB
The target of the Longhorns 2023 class that might be the most hotly discussed coming out of the weekend among the visitors on campus for Junior Day is the elite five-star Arlington-Martin cornerback Javien Toviano. Texas did well to get a number of blue-chips from around the Arlington area out to Austin for the Junior Day festivities, including this insanely-talented corner prospect.
Texas has long made Toviano a top priority of their 2023 class. That is evident in the fact that this is essentially a three-man job in terms of the recruitment of Toviano right now. Texas is putting Sark and special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks as the top recruiters going after Toviano.
But that is happening while cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph is still building a solid relationship with Toviano. And it looks like this weekend only helped the Longhorns in their quest to win over the eventual decision of Toviano. That is where most of the discussion lies at the moment as it pertains to his weekend visit during Junior Day.
Texas will need to beat out the likes of the Oklahoma Sooners, Alabama Crimson Tide, Oregon Ducks, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, etc., to eventually win over the commitment of Toviano. But this weekend could serve as another turning point in his recruitment if Texas can keep the momentum in their corner in pursuit of the DFW product.
