Another rising target of the Longhorns 2024 class that received a scholarship offer after the Junior Elite Day last month that appears to have some real traction with the coaching staff is the four-star Duncanville defensive back/safety Ka’Davion Dotson-Walker. Texas offered Dotson back on Jan. 22, which was the same day that many other emerging targets of the Longhorns 2024 class got one.

The difference for Dotson, though, is the fact that Texas has some real momentum on the recruiting trail right now for the 2024 cycle with defensive backs. The two commits in the Longhorns 2024 class right now could both wind up playing at cornerback once they arrive on the Forty Acres.

Texas could find another versatile defensive back to add to the 2024 class if they can continue to build on the recently formed connection with the potent and talented Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex native Dotson. But it really looks like Texas could have a battle on their hands for Dotson, though.

Dotson has more than twice as many schools on his growing offer sheet compared to another rising target of the Longhorns 2024 class at the moment such as Dubose. He’s now up over 15 schools on his offer sheet as of the afternoon of Feb. 14.

Some of the other schools to watch early on that have offered Dotson include the Oklahoma State Cowboys, rival Texas A&M Aggies, USC Trojans, and Baylor, among many others. He’s also had multiple visits already with the likes of Oklahoma State and Texas A&M.

Texas looks to have one of the lesser-known recruiters on this staff in a key role pursuing Dotson in the director of high school relations Chris Gilbert. Most indications are pointing to Gilbert doing a great job building this relationship with Dotson thus far.
