The original tip-off time between the two-seed Texas basketball and 10-seed Penn State Nittany Lions in the Round of 32 Midwest Region on March 18 was set for 6:45 p.m. CT. But delays in other action in the Round of 32 on Day 3 of the NCAA Tournament on the evening of March 18 has apparently pushed back the tip-off time for the Texas-Penn State game by a little more than 30 minutes.

A tweet posted by the Texas men’s basketball page on March 18 at 6:55 p.m. CT indicates that the new tip-off time against Penn State will be at 7:17 p.m. CT. This is coming just after the eight-seed Arkansas Razorbacks pulled off a big upset in the Midwest Region on the evening of March 18 against the top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks, by a score of 72-71.

Due to delays in other games around the Big Dance, this is the second time in as many contests this week that the Longhorns had a tip-off time pushed back. This is nothing out of the ordinary, though, especially when there are so many NCAA Tournament games occurring on the same day.

It is pretty much par for the course for Texas to have early-round NCAA Tournament games pushed back by 20 or 30 minutes.

Texas basketball vs. Penn State delayed by around 30 minutes

Texas carries a record of 27-8 (12-6 Big 12) into the Round of 32 after topping the 15-seed Colgate Raiders in a convincing win by a score of 81-61 on March 16. Meanwhile, Penn State comes in with a record of 23-13 (10-10 Big Ten) following a 76-59 dismantling of the seven-seed Texas A&M Aggies in the Round of 64 on March 16.

A win against Penn State in the Round of 32 would mean that the Longhorns make its first trip to the Sweet 16 since 2008. If Penn State comes out on top, the Nittany Lions would be going to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2001.
