Just like that, Sean Miller's impressive recruiting efforts continue to pay off after the Texas Longhorns found themselves in the final four for Austin Goosby's future.
Goosby, a five-star combo guard from the class of 2026, is a Texas native, and if that last name sounds familiar, it should. His brother, Trevor Goosby, is currently an offensive lineman for the Horns' football team.
With the tie to Texas and the new head coach in charge of the program, fans have their fingers crossed as tightly as possible that the No. 5 combo guard in the upcoming recruiting cycle decides to follow in his brother's footsteps.
Austin Goosby announces final four schools
Alongside the Longhorns are the Baylor Bears, the Duke Blue Devils, and the BYU Cougars, three teams that have found much more success than Texas in recent memory. The announcement came just a week before his decision day, Nov. 14.
However, after Miller brought in the No. 1 transfer portal class last offseason, more and more elite prospects are turning their attention to Texas.
Goosby is the No. 24 nationally-ranked prospect and the No. 2 recruit out of Texas. Because of his highly rated status, he has received 15 Division I offers throughout his recruitment process. With the announcement of his final four schools, the Longhorns surged to the front of the pack, according to On3 and Rivals.
The recruiting site gives Texas nearly a 30 percent chance to earn Goosby's commitment, followed by the Cougars with 14.9 percent odds.
Despite Duke being the Blue Blood program in the group, not many recruiting experts believe that he would commit to the Blue Devils over his two home-state programs: Texas and Baylor.
Already this year, Miller has received commitments from Austin native and four-star small forward Bo Ogden, whose dad is a part of the Horns' coaching staff, and four-star shooting guard Joe Sterling, who is a California native.
Now, in just a week's time, the Longhorns will learn if Miller's recruiting efforts over the last eight months have been enough to land an elite prospect like Goosby.
