The Texas Longhorns have fought off the Ohio State Buckeyes but aren't done protecting what they've earned.
The Buckeyes were hunting to poach Texas's five-star commit Easton Royal, the No. 1 wide receiver in the class of 2027, who committed to the Horns in November of 2025.
Now, Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian are having to fend off yet another program from trying to steal Royal from their recruiting class, and this time, it's another team in the SEC.
Easton Royal still set to visit the Florida Gators
At the beginning of the year, despite being committed to the Longhorns, the young wide receiver announced he would visit the Florida Gators and their new head coach, Jon Sumrall. Then, with bad weather hitting Florida in late January, Royal had a change of plans and had to cancel the visit.
Now, Royal has reportedly rescheduled his visit to the Swamp, set to spend time with Sumrall and his staff in the spring.
Four-star 2027 WR and Texas commit Easton Royal was set to make the trip to Florida for a visit at the end of January, but weather got in the way of those plans.

It isn't time to completely panic, quite yet. Royal has repeatedly reinforced and restated his commitment to the Horns, even while entertaining the efforts from other powerhouse programs.
Not to mention, his trip to Gainesville isn't the only visit Royal has lined up over the last few weeks. He is also set to take an official visit to Austin over the summer to spend time with Sark and the Longhorns once again.

Royal is a Louisiana native, and already chose the Longhorns over the likes of his home-state team, the LSU Tigers, as well as a slew of other Power Conference teams, like the Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, and more.
So far, the five-star WR is one of just six commits in Sarkisian's class of 2027. Royal is joined by four-star edge rusher Cameron Hall, three-star linebacker Cade Haug, three-star tight end JT Geraci, three-star safety Greedy James, and in-state three-star quarterback Ty Knutson
