It's always fun when your team is one of the best in the country in one sport or another. It's even more fun when your team is the best athletic program across the board.

For a third year in a row and for a fifth time in just six years, the Texas Longhorns have claimed the Learfield Directors' Cup, given to the top-performing athletic department in the country.

Simply put, Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte has turned Texas back into a powerhouse in nearly every single sport.

With National Championships in rowing, men's swimming and diving, and softball, the Horns leapt ahead of the competition. The Longhorn men's performance at the track and field National Championships cemented Texas as the best athletic department in the nation.

"How about them Longhorns! A United Texas is a reckoning," Del Conte shared on X after the Horns secured their second straight Women's College World Series title.

Beyond their national titles, the Horns also finished second in men's tennis at the National Championships, as well as third in women's basketball, women's swimming and diving, and beach volleyball.

Texas volleyball and both men's and women's golf teams finished fifth in the nation, and the baseball team is currently ranked seventh, with the College World Series still ahead.

Del Conte, who was hired in 2017, has hired all of the right people in all of the right places, including football coach Steve Sarkisian, women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer, baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle, softball coach Mike White, and many more.

While Del Conte might not literally be making the calls, he is almost always visible on the sidelines, no matter the sport, supporting his athletic program as the Horns excel in their matchups across the board.

The performance that pushed the Horns to their third-straight Directors' Cup? A silver-medal finish by Kendrick Smallwood in the 110-meter hurdles at the National Championships.

Of course, the performances by Texas teams in numerous sports had to fire on all cylinders for the Longhorns to secure a fifth Cup since Del Conte took over just nine years ago.

Zooming in to the conference level, Texas secured three of the SEC's 11 national titles this school year, the most of any school in the conference.

While the women's NCAA Track and Field Championships technically still have to wrap up, it is nearly mathematically impossible for the Stanford Cardinal, who is currently in second, to secure enough points to usurp the Longhorns in the Directors' Cup standings.

Not to mention, with baseball poised to start its run through the College World Series in Omaha for an opportunity at yet another National Championship this year, the Horns could very easily tack a few extra points onto their already winning total.

So, at the end of the day, the Texas athletic department is, once again, the best program in the nation, topping the likes of Stanford, UCLA, and other powerhouse schools.
