It was the definition of a dream come true when beloved Texas point guard Rori Harmon heard her name called in the 2026 WNBA Draft.

Now, with the regular season finally upon us, Harmon is about to lace up for a new team: the Washington Mystics, but she isn't the only Longhorn Legend to make the regular-season roster for a team at the next level.

While other beloved players, like center Kyla Oldacre, didn't make the final cut, there are a few former Texas Longhorns in the WNBA this year.

Former Texas Longhorns in the WNBA

  • Ariel Atkins, Year 9, Los Angeles Sparks
  • Rori Harmon, Rookie, Washington Mystics
  • Sug Sutton, Year 6, Portland Fire

Ariel Atkins, an undeniable Longhorn Legend, is nearing the decade mark in the league, suiting up for Year 9 in the WNBA and her first with the Los Angeles Sparks.

Sug Sutton, who played for Texas from 2016 until 2020, has bounced around the WNBA throughout her now-six-year career, but is about to tip off the inaugural season with one of the league's expansion teams: the Portland Fire.

The coolest part about all of this? All three women started their professional careers with the same franchise.

The Mystics took Harmon 34th overall in this year's draft, selecting her in the third round. Six years earlier, they drafted Sutton 36th overall, also taking the former Longhorn in the third round. Atkins, the most successful Longhorn in the WNBA, was taken in the first round, going seventh overall in the 2018 Draft.

The 2026 WNBA season is scheduled to tip off on Friday, May 8, with two games at 6:30 p.m. CT: the Washington Mystics (featuring Harmon) versus the Toronto Tempo, and the New York Liberty versus the Connecticut Sun.

As a nightcap, the Golden State Valkyries and the Seattle Storm will tip off on Friday, May 9, at 9 p.m. CT.
