Forget Jeremiah Smith, Cam Coleman has what it takes to be the most electric WR next season

Cam Coleman, the new wideout on the block for the Texas Longhorns, has the chance to light up the country and surpass Jeremiah Smith as the hottest WR around.

Steve Sarkisian has built the Texas Longhorns into a powerhouse team, and his most recent work in the transfer portal this offseason was just the latest cherry on top.

One of Texas's most notable additions from the portal was the pickup of star wide receiver Cam Coleman, who played two seasons for the Auburn Tigers before transferring to play for the Longhorns.

From Sarkisian singing his new wideout's praises to quarterback Arch Manning already connecting with his new downfield target, the expectations for Coleman are sky high, and only getting higher.

That includes college football analysts Brad Crawford, from 247Sports, and Brandon Baylor, of CBS Sports, hyping up Coleman's promise for the upcoming season.

Cam Coleman is poised to take over for the Texas Longhorns

"I think Cam Coleman is the guy on the 40 Acres who's going to have a 70-catch, thousand-yard season, and really challenge Jeremiah Smith to be that top pass catcher taken next April," Crawford said.

Of course, over two seasons, Coleman didn't see quite those numbers, but he still found a lot of success for the Tigers, even while juggling a mix of quarterbacks and inconsistencies in the backfield.

"Two years at Auburn, he had double-digit touchdowns despite really bad quarterback play," Crawford said of Coleman's collegiate success so far.

While at Auburn, Coleman earned 93 catches for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns, all the while having to play alongside seven quarterbacks who rotated through the lineup for the Tigers.

Now, with Manning as the consistent man throwing the ball to him, Coleman will only be able to excel. Consistency is a key part of wide receivers becoming incredibly elite at the collegiate level, setting them up for success in the NFL.

Sarkisian has set up his quarterback with the necessary downfield targets, he has poised Coleman to take over the collegiate football scene as one of the top wideouts, and has turned his offense into the powerhouse it needs to be to take the next step: a return to the National Championship.
