The Texas Longhorns are still dancing after sweeping their way through the Regional round, defeating Holy Cross, Tarleton State, and UC Santa Barbara to return to the Super Regional for the first time since 2023.
Now, the Horns and head coach Jim Schlossnagle are preparing to host the Oregon Ducks in the Super Regional Round to determine who will punch their ticket to the College World Series, and who will have their season come to an end.
While celebrating the win over UCSB, securing their spot in the next round, Schlossnagle was asked how it felt to advance to the Supers after being upset in the Regional last season. The Horns' leader didn't hesitate to clarify that he wasn't thinking about the past.
"Last year was a long time ago. This is a whole different team, a different situation. Different pitching staff," Schlossnagle said.
Of course, the game against UCSB came down to the wire with the Gauchos loading the bases and hitting a pop-up into the air that even the camera had a hard time tracking. Luckily, Adrian Rodriguez was able to follow the ball in the sky and snag the out to send UCSB packing.
"I was really glad to see Rodriguez catch it," Schlossnagle said. "Thank goodness A-Rod saw that last pop-up because [Anthony Pack Jr.] did not."
Texas Longhorns are hungry for more than just a Super Regional
Schlossnagle also made sure that everyone knew that the Horns weren't satisfied by simply winning their Regional, they wanted more.
"The goal here is not to win a Regional, it's to keep going," Schlossnagle said after defeating the UCSB Gauchos.
Schlossnagle is only in his second year with the Longhorns, and after falling short last season, this is the first time he has led Texas to the Super Regional.

Throughout his head coaching career, Schlossnagle has led teams to nine previous Super Regional appearances. In seven of those nine appearances, his teams advanced to the College World Series.
In other words, as he heads to his 10th Super Regional, the Horns should be as grateful as ever to have him as their head coach.
Now, the No. 6 Texas Longhorns are set to host the No. 11 Oregon Ducks in one of the eight Super Regional series. The winner of the best-of-three series will advance to the College World Series.
