Once again, newly minted LSU head coach Lane Kiffin's name has appeared alongside that of a blue-chip recruit who has already committed to the Texas Longhorns.

This time around, Kiffin and the LSU Tigers are circling the waters for five-star safety Greedy James, who committed to the Horns in December of last year.

According to 247Sports' LSU Insider Zack Nagy, James has now locked down an official visit with the Tigers and didn't exactly hold back on his praise for Kiffin and the LSU program.

"Who wouldn’t want to be developed by the best?" James said in Nagy's report.

James, from right down the road in Manvel, committed to Texas over the likes of LSU and a slew of other programs, but it was when Brian Kelly was still leading the Tigers. Since the program named Kiffin as its newest head coach, almost every player in the country was placed on flip-watch.

Greedy James books OV to LSU, adds pressure to Horns

Since committing to the Longhorns in December, James hasn't been shy about visiting other programs and seeing what they have to offer.

However, he has been consistent in his pledge to Texas, even doing some work on social media to try to bring other top recruits to the 40 Acres.

Throughout his recruitment process, James has stayed close to home for the most part, visiting Texas twice, and taking one trip apiece to TCU, SMU, and Texas A&M. He has also taken unofficial visits to Notre Dame and Ohio State.

According to On3's visits tracker, the trip to Baton Rouge will make for the second official visit on the calendar for James, the only other one being with the Longhorns over the weekend of June 19.

James, while only recently receiving a fourth star on his rating, according to 247Sports, is one of the top prospects in Texas's class of 2027, which is highlighted by five-star wide receiver Easton Royal, four-star tight end Brock Williams, and four-star edge rusher Cameron Hall.

As of now, Sarkisian's upcoming group of recruits ranks just 13th in the nation and fifth in the SEC. Last year's recruiting class also ranked fifth in the conference, but was a top-10 group nationally.

If LSU, or any other program, were able to flip James' commitment, it could send the Horns' group even further down the recruiting rankings.
