With 14 seconds left on the clock, Texas forward Camden Heide hit a dagger three-point shot to put the game away, pushing the Longhorns to their upset victory over the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Immediately, the fans in attendance, the players on the court, and everyone along the bench erupted in pure and utter joy.

Now, a new angle of Heide's game-securing three, followed by Matas Vokietaitis's lay-in to build Texas's lead by two points, will have the Horns excited all over again.

What. A. Sequence.

The Heide contested three-point shot from the corner. The missed shot for Gonzaga and the rebound by Dailyn Swain. The easy layup for Vokietaitis.

Texas head coach Sean Miller couldn't have drawn it up any better than it played out as the game clock neared zero.

Texas's clutch mentality might take them deep

Now, Texas just pulled off one of the upsets of the postseason so far, and it wasn't the first of their NCAA Tournament run. In fact, it was the Longhorns' third upset in a row.

In the First Four, while playing for an actual spot in the bracket, Tramon Mark hit a game-winning three-pointer of his own to push the Horns on to the First Round over the NC State Wolfpack.

In the First Round, Texas stunned the BYU Cougars and their star freshman, AJ Dybantsa, with a magical performance by Vokietaitis.

In the Second Round, Heide's three cemented the Horns' place in the Sweet 16, taking Texas deeper into the Big Dance than just about anybody expected.

The next game will present yet another monster for Texas to down. Yes, kind of similar to David defeating Goliath.

In the Sweet 16, the Longhorns will play the winner of No. 7-seed Miami versus No. 2-seed Purdue. Most likely, according to betting odds, the Purdue Boilermakers will pull off an easy victory over the Miami Hurricanes.

Texas hasn't played Purdue in men's basketball since 2022, when the Boilermakers eliminated the Horns from that season's NCAA Tournament in the Round of 32. Not only will the Longhorns be out for revenge, but their clutch mentality might just make it possible.

While the opponent, tip-off time, and broadcast channel have yet to even be determined, Texas does know that it will play in the Sweet 16 on Thursday, March 26.
