Earlier this month, Texas wideout DeAndre Moore announced he planned to enter the transfer portal, thinning the Longhorns' starting receiving corps.
In response, many players offered their words of support, despite the fact that he was leaving the program, including fellow wide receiver Parker Livingstone.
"Go be great 0," Livingstone wrote on social media, referring to Moore's jersey number when saying the number zero.
Texas Longhorns headed to the portal
Unfortunately for Livingstone and the rest of the Longhorns who are sticking around in Austin, Moore isn't the only player heading to the transfer portal once it opens in January. In fact, he was the 12th Texas player to announce his intent to enter:
- OG Connor Stroh
- RB C.J. Baxter
- WR Aaron Butler
- RB Jerrick Gibson
- CB Santana Wilson
- QB Trey Owens
- K Will Stone
- S Derek Williams Jr.
- DT Melvin Hills III
- LB Liona Lefau
- RB Rickey Stewart Jr.
- WR DeAndre Moore Jr.
While every player who goes to the portal is a loss, some losses are weightier than others. Moore is one of the hits that the Longhorns will feel more, alongside offensive lineman Connor Stroh, running back C.J. Bxater, and linebacker Liona Lefau.
The NCAA implemented a change to the transfer portal window so that there was less chaos as coaches and players interacted following the end of each team's individual season. Not to mention the added layer of programs contacting agents during no-contact windows.
This cycle, the transfer portal doesn't open until January 2, 2026, one day after the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff. It is open for 15 days, where players have the opportunity to officially enter the portal or not.
