Three years since the announcement that the Texas Longhorns would be leaving the Big 12 for the SEC, the Horns have finally made the switch and it just means more.

Texas went out on top. The Longhorns won 11 Big 12 titles throughout the 2023-24 year, including football, volleyball, soccer, women’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s indoor track and rowing as well as sweeping swim & dive, basketball, and outdoor track.

To usher in a new era of Texas athletics, as the Longhorns officially joined the SEC, there was a day-long celebration around UT’s campus attended by thousands of fans, athletes, and coaches.

Longhorn social media was abuzz for nearly 48 hours straight, bringing attention to Texas’ supremacy in the Big 12 and its future in the SEC.

Showcased were the facilities and stars of each athletic program, from volleyball’s Madisen Skinner to basketball’s Kadin Shedrick to football’s Quinn Ewers.

The Longhorns have dominated the college athletics scene for a long time with nine football national titles, six baseball national titles, four volleyball national titles, and more.

One thing that the Horns are losing is the beloved (and sometimes despised) Longhorn Network. The network was launched in 2011 and was (supposedly) the catalyst for Texas A&M’s departure from the Big 12. Now the two Texas rivals will be reunited in the SEC.

Texas will have to, much more consistently, face top-tier programs like the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide.

However, with two wins over those specific opponents in their most recent matchups, the Horns are feeling just fine as they enter their new conference.

To the Texas Longhorns, it just means more.
