The Texas Longhorns have the eighth-largest FBS stadium in the country with a capacity of 100,119 and an ever-eager fan base.

As the Horns (and the Oklahoma Sooners) join the SEC, Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium joins the ranks of the greatest stadiums in college football history.

With some of the biggest stadiums scattered throughout the SEC, I wanted to know which ones were the loudest so I asked ChatGPT to rank all 16 of the conference’s home bases based on noise level.

. . Faurot Field. . . player. Faurot Field. 531. mizzou. 16

  • Location: Columbia, Missouri
  • Capacity: 62,621
  • Record attendance: 75,298 vs. Penn State on Oct. 4, 1980

Until recently, Missouri football had been in a long-lasting rut and this was reflected in both fan attendance as well as enthusiasm at Faurot Field.

player. 528. uk. . Kroger Field. Kroger Field. . . . 14

  • Location: Lexington, Kentucky
  • Capacity: 61,000
  • Record attendance: 63,543 vs. Georgia on Nov. 3, 2018

Kroger Field is the second-smallest stadium in the SEC but because of Kentucky's dominance in (and loyalty to) basketball, the Wildcats' football stadium falls near the bottom of the noise level rankings.

ark. Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. 13. player. 524. . Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. . .

  • Location: Fayetteville, Arkansas
  • Capacity: 76,000
  • Record attendance: 76,808 vs. Alabama on Sept. 25, 2010

Despite the Razorbacks' fanbase being boisterous and enthusiastic, Donald W. Reynolds Stadium falls well short of being the loudest in the SEC.

12. . player. 533. Williams-Brice Stadium. . Williams-Brice Stadium. . . sc

  • Location: Columbia, South Carolina
  • Capacity: 77,559
  • Record attendance: 85,199 vs. Georgia on Oct. 6, 2012

Williams-Brice Stadium has gradually climbed up the ranks over the past few years but it reached its peak in 2012 when the Razorbacks hosted the Georgia Bulldogs.

. 464. . . Gaylord Family Stadium. Gaylord Family Stadium. 11. ou. . player

  • Location: Norman, Oklahoma
  • Capacity: 83,489
  • Record attendance: 88,388 vs. TCU on Nov. 11, 2017

The Sooners never host the Longhorns at home but the Gaylord Family Stadium crowd of 83,489 fans most likely wouldn't slow down Texas from stormin' in Norman.

. Neyland Stadium. tu. . . Neyland Stadium. player. . 10. 534

  • Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Capacity: 101,915
  • Record attendance: 109,061 vs. Flordia on Sept. 18, 2004

Neyland Stadium and Knoxville have become cornerstones of sports in the SEC over recent years, especially as the football team has found a resurgence of success. However, the larger-than-life stadium isn't one of the loudest in the conference quite yet.

. player. . Davis Wade Stadium. 530. msu. . . Davis Wade Stadium. 9

  • Location: Starkville, Mississippi
  • Capacity: 60,311
  • Record attendance: 62,945 vs. Auburn on Oct. 11, 2014

Despite its small size, Mississippi State's home field stadium is as loud and proud as many other SEC stadiums. At 60,311 seats, Davis Wide is a centerpiece in Starkville.

. player. . . Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. 8. 532. Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. ole miss.

  • Location: University, Mississippi
  • Capacity: 64,038
  • Record attendance: 66,703 vs. LSU on Sept. 30, 2023

Lane Kiffin has recreated and revived the Ole Miss Rebels' football program and that includes filling Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on a regular basis, leading to loud crowds and happy fans.

uga. Sanford Stadium. 7. player. . . . Sanford Stadium. . 527

  • Location: Athens, Georgia
  • Capacity: 92,746
  • Record attendance: 93,246 vs. Notre Dame on Sept. 21, 2019

Georgia hasn't lost a regular season game in three years and the Bulldogs' home field advantage is a huge part of that. With 92,746 fans in Sanford Stadium, UGA is simply unbeatable.

bama. . . . player. . Bryant-Denny Stadium. Bryant-Denny Stadium. 523. 6

  • Location: Tuscaloosa, Florida
  • Capacity: 101,821
  • Record attendance: 101,821 vs. Ole Miss on Oct. 16, 2010

Until the Longhorns stormed into Tuscaloosa in 2023, the Crimson Tide had one of the longest at-home winning streaks in college football history. In other words, Bryant-Denny is unbelievably loud.

. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. player. uf. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. 5. 526. . .

  • Location: Gainesville, Florida
  • Capacity: 88,548
  • Record attendance: 90,916 vs. Florida State on Nov. 28, 2015

The Gators brought their largest crowd ever to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in 2015, just for Florida to lose to their in-state foe Florida State 27-2. While the Gainesville stadium may be as loud as any other, the crowd noise doesn't always work for the Gators.

player. 525. . aub. . . Jordan-Hare Stadium. Jordan-Hare Stadium. 4.

  • Location: Auburn, Alabama
  • Capacity: 87,451
  • Record attendance: 88,043 vs. Alabama on Nov. 25, 2023

The Tigers and the Crimson Tide always brings a rocking crowd to Jordan-Hare Stadium but Alabama isn't the vital part. Jordan-Hare is always loud, despite Auburn's recent struggles, and the vertical design of the stadium's seats play to the crowd's noise level.

. Darrell K Royal Stadium. Darrell K Royal Stadium. 3. . . player. ut. . 467

  • Location: Austin, Texas
  • Capacity: 100,119
  • Record attendance: 105,213 vs. Alabama on Sept. 10, 2022

. tamu. Kyle Field. Kyle Field. 2. player. 535. . .

  • Location: College Station, Texas
  • Capacity: 102,733
  • Record attendance:

Unfortunately for the Horns, their reunion with in-state rival Texas A&M will be at the Aggies' home field, which is the fourth-largest in the nation and second-loudest in the SEC.

1. 529. . . player. lsu. . . Tiger Stadium. Tiger Stadium

  • Location: Baton Rouge, Louisianna
  • Capacity: 102,321
  • Record attendance: 102,321 vs. Florida on Nov. 11, 2023

The second-largest stadium in the SEC belongs to the LSU Tigers. With a capacity of 102,321 ragin' Cajuns, the Tigers are always supported (quite loudly) by their fans at home.
