What was happening in the world when the Texas Longhorns last won a national title?
By Sam Fariss
When Vince Young scrambled into the corner of the endzone on a 4th & 5 attempt as the final seconds of the fourth quarter counted down, the University of Texas Longhorns were on top of the world.
The Horns defeated the favored USC Trojans in the 2005 BCS National Championship game and Texas fans have clung to that victory throughout the past two decades.
Texas hasn't won a college football national title since Young's heroic dash to victory, and a lot has changed for the Longhorns over 19 years.
Looking back to win the Horns stood atop the rest of the country, what else was going on in the world? Who was the leader of the free world? How much was gas? What inventions were released?
