With commitments from five-star prospects like Marcus Spears Jr. and Austin Goosby, as well as official visits for NaVorro Bowman Jr. and Beckham Black, the Texas Longhorns and head coach Sean Miller are on a recruiting tear.
Now, in a continued hunt for five-star center Darius Wabbington, the Horns have found themselves among some of the most elite programs in college basketball history.
Wabbington, the No. 13 prospect in the class of 2027, reportedly narrowed his search to just six schools: the Arizona Wildcats, Indiana Hoosiers, Kentucky Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, North Carolina Tar Heels, and none other than the Longhorns.
From Wabbington's home-state team in the Wildcats to the blue bloods filling up the rest of the ranks, the Horns are genuinely going to head-to-head with some of the greatest teams in the sport.

Beyond including Texas in the list of the final six schools under consideration, Wabbington had already scheduled an official visit to the 40 Acres to spend time with Miller and the Longhorns.
As of now, the 6-foot-11 center has OVs scheduled to Texas, Indiana, Louisville, Arizona, and UNC, seemingly narrowing his list even further without a trip to Kentucky on his calendar at this point.

Wabbington is just the latest blue-chip prospect to schedule an official visit with the Horns, joining the likes of Black, who is the new No. 1 recruit in the class of 2027, Bowman, who is the No. 5 point guard in the cycle, and Justin Wise, the No. 4 shooting guard.

To put all of this into layman's terms, Miller is dominating the recruiting trail, despite the fact that Texas men's basketball is a far cry from a blue-blood program, especially in recent years.
Not to mention the fact that the Horns just came off one of their best recruiting and transfer portal cycles of all time, landing the No. 5 recruiting class and the No. 4 transfer portal group in the nation.

Additionally, Texas only lost four players to the transfer portal: Camden Heide, Declan Duru Jr., Simeon Wilcher, and Nicolas Codie, all of whom combined for fewer than 14 minutes per game on average.
While Miller and the Longhorns held onto beloved center Matas Vokietaitis, Texas added 11 players out of the portal and off the recruiting trail. Most notable were the additions of true freshmen Goosby and Spears, as well as transfer pickups David Punch from TCU and Isaiah Johnson from Colorado.
