Steve Sarkisian battling just one other SEC program to land 4-star IOL

The Texas Longhorns are one of just two teams remaining on a four-star offensive lineman's list, but Steve Sarkisian has his work cut out for him.

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns are building a monster of a program in Austin, but they aren't the only team doing so.

Across the country, athletic departments are shelling out millions of dollars to bring the best talent to their program, and that includes the rest of the teams in the SEC.

It even, despite recent struggles, includes the Auburn Tigers, who are now led by head coach Alex Golesh.

In fact, Auburn is the only other school still contending for a commitment from four-star interior offensive lineman Reed Ramsier, the No. 2 IOL out of Florida, a state that consistently produces some of the best prospects in the country.

Reed Ramsier narrows it down to Texas and Auburn

At 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds, Ramsier isn't the biggest offensive lineman in the recruiting cycle, but he is still considered a top-20 prospect at the position, attracting a lot of attention from coaches across the country.

On Thursday, May 28, it was announced that Ramsier had canceled his visit to see the Clemson Tigers and cut his list down to just the Horns and the Tigers, pitting the two conference opponents against each other for his commitment.

With Clemson off his list, it was down to the two SEC teams, having already eliminated the Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, and other powerhouse programs from contention.

Alongside having narrowed his list down to just the Tigers and the Horns, Ramsier will take only two official visits this summer: one to Austin and one to Auburn.

Reed Ramsier official visit schedule

  • Clemson Tigers - May 29, 2026 [CANCELED]
  • Auburn Tigers - June 12, 2026
  • Texas Longhorns - June 19, 2026

Ramsier has already made three trips to the 40 Acres, but has also visited Auburn on two previous occasions. Overall, he took the most trips to Clemson and Florida, visiting the Gators, but quantity clearly doesn't always beat out quality.

Now, all Sarkisian and the Longhorns have to do is make Texas just that much more enticing than what Golesh and his staff have to offer.
