Steve Sarkisian given perfect chance to cement 5-star Ismael Camara's commitment

At the beginning of the summer, five-star interior offensive lineman Ismael Camara canceled all of his official visits, announcing that he would instead focus on improving his physical build and on-field production during the offseason.

While a few teams hit the panic button, the Texas Longhorns had no cause for concern and eventually got exactly what they were looking for: a commitment from Camara.

In the beginning of July, Camara committed to Texas over a slew of other powerhouse programs, including the Oregon Ducks, SMU Mustangs, LSU Tigers, and more.

Now, the Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian have an opening to cement Camara's commitment, and possibly even convince the blue-chip prospect to officially shut down his recruitment process.

5-star IOL, Texas commit Ismael Camara books official visit to Texas

Inside Texas's Justin Wells reported that Camara had booked an official visit with the Horns, a reversal of his initial decision to cancel his OVs with Texas, Oregon, Texas A&M, LSU, and more programs.

The trip to the 40 Acres opens the door for Sarkisian and his staff to close the book on Camara's recruitment, hopefully doing nothing but solidifying the five-star offensive lineman's decision to commit to Texas.

Of course, this will not be the first time Camara has set foot on Texas's campus. He has already taken four unofficial visits to Austin over the last year and a half, including one in June of this year.

Since March of 2025, Sarkisian had a target on Camara, using those four visits to earn the commitment. Now, a fifth visit could end everyone else's attempt at even trying to flip that commitment in their direction.

At 6-foot-6 and 335 pounds, Camara already has the build of a collegiate offensive lineman, if not an IOL at the NFL level, and he still has another season of high school football ahead of him. He is the No. 3 interior in the class of 2027 and is currently the second-highest-rated player in Texas's class, only trailing five-star wide receiver Easton Royal.

Camara will come to town over the weekend of Sept. 11-13, alongside a slew of other prospects that the Longhorns want to earn the attention of.

Why that weekend? Well, it's when the Horns are hosting none other than the Ohio State Buckeyes, in a game that is not only an opportunity for Texas to exact revenge, but also the perfect game to set the tone of the entire season.

While Camara has given no sign of a commitment flip even being a remote possibility, a little extra time with his future program (especially on such a big weekend) can't hurt.

The amount of noise buzzing around the Texas football this season is already booming, but in Week 2, when Camara and the rest of the recruits come to town, the noise will be deafening, and nobody will be able to ignore it, not even prospects who have not committed to the Longhorns quite yet.
