After recently visiting Austin, Wake Forest transfer wide receiver Sterling Berkhalter has officially decided to sign with Texas today.
The 6'3", 205-pound pass-catcher brings a wealth of experience and size to the Longhorns' WR room heading into 2026, and he could end up being a sneaky-good addition this offseason. Both from an on-field perspective and as a "teacher" for the younger guys on the roster, like Kaliq Lockett, Daylan McCutcheon, and Jermaine Bishop.

Berkhalter will officially be entering his sixth season in the college ranks after recently receiving another year of eligibility from the NCAA.
Throughout his five-year career at North Carolina A&T, Cincinnati, and Wake Forest, he's combined for:
- 76 receptions
- 1,083 yards
- 13.74 yards per reception
- 5 touchdowns
Berkhalter's always been a rotational "X" receiver, usually limited to the outside due to his play style and length. Though he has long strides, he has enough agility and athleticism to break down quickly when he changes directions at the top of routes. He was pretty effective on deep comebacks and on out routes with Wake Forest in 2025.
He's also very good at the catch-point, consistently displaying the ability to high-point the ball and use his big frame to shield defenders away at the last second.
His presence will allow Cam Coleman, Ryan Wingo, and Emmett Mosley V to rotate around the formation next season, and he'll give Arch Manning another weapon to use in the redzone.
Berkhalter is officially Texas' 19th incoming transfer, and the second wide receiver commit in the 2026 transfer portal.
