It's official, the Texas Longhorns are once again the best collegiate baseball team in the nation. After earning a series win over the Kentucky Wildcats, the Horns improved to 29-5 overall with just two losses to conference opponents all season.

With their new No. 1 ranking, Texas leapfrogged the former top-ranked team, the Arkansas Razorbacks, who lost their most recent series to the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs.

The Longhorns' win over Kentucky, as the Razorbacks lost, secured Texas as the only team in the SEC without a series loss to a conference opponent this year. Currently, Texas holds a resounding 13-2 record in conference play.

What does the rest of the Texas baseball season look like?

The No. 1 ranking isn't a sure thing as Texas continues to navigate its first season in the SEC, which is (almost) undeniably the most difficult conference to play in. While the Horns will host UT-Rio Grande Valley and the Auburn Tigers in what should be relatively easy wins, Texas then has to visit Texas State, which beat the Longhorns earlier this season.

Then, the Horns will host their rivals, the Texas A&M Aggies, in a highly contentious series since Texas poached the Aggies' former head coach Jim Schlossnagle during the past offseason. Not to mention, Texas will have to face Arkansas in a three-game road series (May 1-3) as the two top teams in the nation juke it out.

After visiting the Razorbacks, Texas will have just two conference series (against the Florida Gators and Oklahoma Sooners) remaining before the SEC Tournament, which is set to kick off on Tuesday, May 20.

Last season, Texas finished its final year in the Big 12 with a 36-24 overall record and a brief run in the postseason, where the Horns lost to Texas A&M and Louisiana in the NCAA College Station Regional.

For now, the Longhorns can lay claim to the top place in the country, however, the road ahead doesn't get any easier as the 2025 College World Series rapidly approaches.
