The Texas Longhorns have the third-best incoming class in the nation. With multiple blue-chip recruits and talent at nearly every position, the Horns' class of 2025 is filled to the brim with four-star and five-star athletes.
Most recently, edge rusher Lance Jackson earned the No. 8 spot in the latest On300 rankings of five-star recruits from the class. Jackson, who committed to Texas in January of this year, is the second-highest-rated edge rusher in the nation and a top-30 athlete at any position in the class.
The Texas native had offers from elite programs such as Alabama, Penn State, and Notre Dame but decided to stay home and give his talents to the Horns.
On3's national scout Cody Bellaire said, “Lance Jackson is one of the premier “first off the bus” prospects in the 2025 cycle. He has excellent weight distribution throughout his frame and looks to be a lean 270 as a high school senior. Primarily, he lines up as a defensive end and tight end for his high school.
"He’s an effective edge setter with his size and strength, shows good initial quickness, and has length that shows up in implementing a straight-arm move. He transfers his physicality as a tight end over to the defensive side as well, walking offensive tackles back to the quarterback. Ultimately, he may outgrow the EDGE position given his current size, but would be one of the more athletic defensive linemen in the class as well.”
Jackson grew up in Texarkana, TX – just beyond the Arkansas border – and his older brother, Landon Jackson actually plays for the Arkansas Razorbacks, who Texas eked out a win over on Saturday of Week 12.
