After facing the No. 20 Arkansas Razorbacks, the Texas Longhorns will host none other than the Oklahoma Sooners to close out the regular season.
Beyond the fact that it's the last meeting of the Red River Rivalry for the regular season, the Horns want to win because, well, it's a basketball game and that's kind of the whole point.
However, Sean Miller's team winning might actually do the Sooners a favor, as Oklahoma has failed to find its footing this season, and all things are pointing toward head coach Porter Moser heading out the door.
OU might prefer to lose to Texas to get rid of Porter Moser
Moser took over in Norman in 2021 and has led the Sooners to an absolutely average four seasons since then. "Average" isn't acceptable at Oklahoma, in any sport. So, Moser's overall record of 90-73 is a far cry from what the Sooners are expecting out of their men's basketball program.
He didn't win a Big 12 title (regular season or conference tournament), he has yet to win an SEC title, and the deepest he has taken the team was an appearance in the Round of 64 in last year's NCAA Tournament.
This year, Moser has led the Sooners to a 16-14 record, going just 6-11 against SEC opponents, and OU fans across the country are calling for his job. If the Sooners can pull off the upset win over Texas, the team might change its tune about the head coach, at least momentarily.
Meanwhile, if the Horns win, which is the expected outcome, the idea of axing Moser and finding a new head coach in Norman will only be reinforced.

So, yes, obviously, the Longhorns want to defeat the Sooners on Saturday. However, wouldn't it be hilarious if the only reason they stuck with their more-than-disappointing head coach was that Texas lost?
