As the Texas Longhorns and head coach Mike White have flawlessly rebuilt their roster, which was far from falling apart, this offseason, other teams have only been able to sit back and watch the legendary recruiting performance.
Between bringing in the No. 3 recruiting class of 2026 and dominating the transfer portal, the Horns have looked as ready as ever for a run to the Women's College World Series and a hopeful three-peat for yet another National Championship.

Meanwhile, one of Texas's biggest rivals in softball and college sports across the board, the Oklahoma Sooners, have done nothing but flounder in the offseason, swinging and missing on some of the very recruits that the Longhorns have landed.
Mike White is making Oklahoma eat his dust on the recruiting trail
Sure, Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso was able to land the No. 1 recruiting class of 2026, just two spots ahead of Texas in the rankings. However, White landed a top-three class and has earned commitments from three of the top transfer prospects in the portal.
Gasso and the Sooners? Oh, well, they have landed zero (yes, 0) players out of the portal, while losing three players who decided to transfer away from Oklahoma.

Former Oklahoma outfielders Kasidi Pickering and Tia Milloy entered the transfer portal, as did pitcher Berkley Zache. While the trio has yet to find their next programs, their departures undeniably tipped the scales away from Gasso's favor.
- In: NONE
- Out: Kasidi Pickering (OF), Tia Milloy (OF), Berkley Zache (P)
Meanwhile, backup pitcher Cambria Salmon is the only Longhorn to announce her decision to enter the transfer portal so far this offseason.
On the other side of the Red River, White landed a commitment from former Texas Tech pitcher Samantha Lincoln to fill in for Salmon's absence, as well as bringing in former Florida State shortstop Isa Torres and former Arizona State catcher Samantha Swan.

While Lincoln rebuilds depth in Texas's bullpen, Swan perfectly slides into the gap left behind by Reese Atwood's graduation and move to the AUSL. Similarly, Isa Torres could easily slide into the role of second baseman, currently vacant following the departure and drafting of Leaighann Goode.
- In: Isa Torres (SS, Florida State), Samantha Swan (C, Arizona State), Samantha Lincoln (P, Texas Tech)
- Out: Cambria Salmon (P)
To put it into layman's terms, White is outpacing Gasso in the transfer portal. The talented experience that the Longhorns are gaining on their roster could undeniably outweigh the Sooners' class of 2026 being ranked a minimal two spots ahead of Texas's incoming group of prospects.
Beyond the success on the recruiting trail and in the transfer portal, all the Horns needed to create a dynasty was one taste of a National Championship. Now, there's no slowing down Texas softball.
The Longhorns won back-to-back Women's College World Series titles, as well as the 2026 SEC Softball Tournament Championship, leaving the Sooners wanting a whole lot more out of their season, despite beating Texas in the head-to-head series during the regular season.
White is charging full-steam ahead, and Gasso is falling behind, but don't get it wrong, zero Longhorns are worrying themselves over the Sooners' shortcomings.
