The Texas Longhorns have once again claimed a conference title after the baseball team earned its first win over the Oklahoma Sooners to clinch its first-ever SEC regular-season Championship.
Behind a go-ahead home run by Max Belyeu, the Horns secured a 7-4 victory over the Sooners to improve their record to 41-10 overall and 21-7 against conference opponents.
Now, Texas has a 1-0 lead over Oklahoma with two games remaining in the series, the Longhorns' final series of the regular season ahead of the SEC Tournament and the subsequent NCAA Tournament.
Despite dropping their previous series to the Florida Gators and being swept in the series before that by the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Longhorns won 75 percent of their conference matchups, earning a three-game lead over the Razorbacks, who are currently in second place in the SEC standings.
Following their three-game series, the Horns and Sooners will head to their first-ever SEC Tournament, as the first and 13th seeds, respectively. The second game between the rivals is set to start at 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday, May 16.
The first game of the conference postseason tournament will see its first pitch thrown out at 9:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday, May. 20. This year, the tournament will be held at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, AL.
Following the SEC Tournament, the Selection Show for the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament will take place at 11 a.m. CT on Monday, May 26. The first round of the postseason (the regionals) will begin on Friday, May 30.
